If there’s one thing that sports fans can’t ever agree on, it’s the conversation on who deserves the title of “best.” Whether it’s the best team, best coach, or best player, there’s always somebody with a different opinion.

The discussion on who the best NBA player is will never be put to rest. Still, it doesn’t stop fans and the players themselves from deciding who deserves this distinction. One such star is Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, who weighed in on who the best player in the league is currently.

Jaylen Brown Gives His Take on the Best Player in the League Debates

Debates on who should be called the best will always rage on, but that hasn’t stopped even the players from trying to put a stop to it. Brown has submitted his take on who should be named the best in the league right now, and he firmly named himself.

He made the declaration while livestreaming on his Twitch account, called “FCHWPO.”

“I don’t care who you say right now. Ain’t nobody doing it better than me right now,” he said.

Undoubtedly, many people will argue with Brown’s take, as some players are statistically outperforming him this season.

Brown ranks fifth in the league in scoring, averaging 29.4 points per game through 27 contests. However, he does not show the same kind of dominance in other statistical categories. Brown is averaging 6.4 boards and 4.9 assists, which is significantly lower than the likes of Luka Dončić and Nikola Jokić.

Still, the NBA has recognized Brown’s impact. As per the latest KIA NBA MVP ladder released on Friday (Dec. 19), Brown is seventh in the league. It’s slightly lower than his ranking the previous week, which had placed him at fifth. While he did suffer a marginal drop, it still speaks volumes about a player’s contributions when they’re named one of the top ten players in the NBA.

Amidst Jayson Tatum’s absence due to injury and the loss of most of their other star-caliber players over the summer, the team is performing well, and Brown has played a big role in keeping Boston competitive.

After winning their last three games, the Celtics (18-11) are now just two games behind the New York Knicks, who hold the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.

Without Brown, the team would likely be worse off in the standings; however, for now, they appear to be in a position to challenge the top teams in their conference for the top spot.
