PJ Hall was in Memphis Grizzlies (Image via NBA) Agent Matt Bollero tells Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN that the Hornets have reached a two-way agreement with center PJ Hall, giving depth to their frontcourt. Throughout the 2025–26 season, they maintained the team’s emphasis on internal growth. Ohm Youngmisuk was the first to report the move, citing ProMondo Sports’ confirmation.Hall has played for the Memphis Grizzlies in seven NBA games this season. He attended Clemson to play collegiate basketball. Additionally, the big man participated in 19 games for the Denver Nuggets in 2024–2025. Charlotte, however, hasn’t advanced to the postseason since 2016. Since selecting LaMelo Ball with the third overall choice in the 2020 NBA Draft, the team has only had one winning record.
PJ Hall earns another NBA opportunity after strong G League showing with Greensboro Swarm
Hall, a former Clemson All-ACC standout, inked a new two-way contract with the Grizzlies this past summer after spending his debut season on a two-way contract with Denver in 2024–2025. Before being dismissed in November to make place for Jahmai Mashack, he only played 27 minutes in seven games for Memphis this fall and 66 minutes in 19 games for the Nuggets the previous season. After being waived by the Grizzlies, Hall joined Charlotte’s affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, and has since made a significant contribution in the G League. The 6’8″ big man has averaged 14.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 27.5 minutes per game in 14 appearances with the Swarm and Memphis Hustle.Announcing the news, the management wrote on X:“The Charlotte Hornets are signing PJ Hall to a two-way contract out of their Greensboro Swarm G League team, Matt Bollero of ProMondo Sports tells ESPN. Hall, who has played 26 NBA games over two seasons, is averaging 14.8 points and 9.1 rebounds on 62.3% shooting in G League…”After centres Ryan Kalkbrenner (left elbow sprain) and Mason Plumlee (right groin strain) were sidelined for Tuesday’s victory over Washington, Hall will provide Hornets head coach Charles Lee with another middle option.Hall mainly served as a developmental big man for Denver, averaging 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds in little minutes. Later, in July 2025, he signed a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, where he played in seven games until being dismissed in November due to a roster change.Hall’s offensive skill set has been most evident in the G League. He has averaged 15.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in 10 G League games this season, demonstrating enhanced finishing touch and improved glass placement.
Charlotte Hornets add PJ Hall to boost frontcourt depth amid injuries and youth-focused rebuild
After a successful run with the Greensboro Swarm, where he averaged 14.8 points and 9.1 rebounds while shooting 62.3% from the field, Hall was awarded the deal. In addition to Ryan Kalkbrenner, Mason Plumlee, and Moussa Diabate, the signing provides Charlotte with another interior option. The organisation has placed a strong emphasis on assessing younger players while preserving roster flexibility because the Hornets are currently 10-20. Moussa Diabate, Charlotte’s only healthy centre, had an incredible performance against the Wizards, finishing with 12 points, 18 rebounds, and a +38 rating in 36 minutes. However, during his 12 minutes on the bench, the club was outscored by 21 points, and if Kalkbrenner or Plumlee are likely to miss more time, the team could utilise more reinforcements at the five. Drew Peterson, a two-way forward, was waived by the Hornets to make room for Hall.Over the last two seasons, Hall has made a number of stops on his NBA journey. He joined the Denver Nuggets for Summer League after going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. He eventually signed a two-way contract and made 19 appearances in the 2024–25 campaign. Also read: Washington Wizards vs Charlotte Hornets (12-23-2025) game preview: When and where to watch, expected lineup, injury report, prediction, and more
