Calvary Day girls basketball coach Daniel Jackson has left the Cavalier program to take over as the head girls basketball coach at St. Andrew’s, he confirmed on Wednesday, May 21.
In his place, Calvary Day has hired Landon Sarazine to coach the Cavalier girls team, the school announced in a social media post on Monday.
Jackson, 41, had been coaching at Calvary Day for 13 years, and had been also working as an assistant athletic director the last few years. He took over for girls coach Jackie Hamilton when the veteran stepped down after the 2023 season.
The Cavs reached the Sweet 16 in the state playoffs in both years under Jackson, who posted a 40-16 record in his two seasons at the helm. Jackson will replace Lion coach Jimmy Stettler, who is taking a job as a teacher at another school. The Lions went 6-18 last season.
“I’ve always been a fan of the independent school environment and then some conversations started and the opportunity opened up for me to take the job at St. Andrew’s,” said Jackson, who was a standout in his high school playing days at Windsor Forest with his twin brother, Dancial. “I’m super excited about the opportunity and getting the chance to join the St. Andrew’s community and help build the girls basketball program.”
Sarazine, 27, grew up in Warner Robins and played high school basketball at Central Fellowship Christian in Macon. He went on to play at the College of Coastal Georgia, where he has coached for the last four years, three as an assistant with the men’s team before becoming an assistant with the women’s team last year.
“I got the call about the job from Dr. (Hunter) Chadwick and was interested because I knew about the success the school has had across the board in all sports,” Sarazine said. “Then I visited campus and saw the commitment they have to the sports programs and the support they have from the staff, parents and families. It was a welcoming environment and seemed like the perfect fit for me and my family.”
Sarazine and his wife have a three-year old son and a one-year-old daughter. They are planning a move from Brunswick to Savannah. He will work as an admissions counselor at Calvary Day in addition to coaching.
