In many ways, Draymond Green has been the heart of the Golden State Warriors dynasty. And while they have won four NBA championships during that time, his antics have also been a problem. And after his latest public blow-up, this time directed at head coach Steve Kerr, Draymond seems ready to make a big sacrifice.
Green’s never been a player with gaudy numbers. However, his impact on the Warriors has always been outsized. He’s no longer that player at this age, though. And it would seem he’s finally come to terms with that, reportedly offering to give up his starting role.

In their recent statement win over the Orlando Magic, Green left the floor early after a courtside spat with Kerr. It seems there is a major disconnect between the two, although apologies have since been made. And while Draymond’s ready to sacrifice, some of Kerr’s comments suggest he’s simply looking to move on.
“My No. 1 goal is honestly for him to finish his career as a Warrior with us fighting, metaphorically not literally, fighting and competing together until we’re both gone, and I believe that’s going to happen,” Kerr said, as per MSN.

Not benching Green is also something Kerr cannot afford from a basketball perspective. Draymond remains the team’s best defender and is an invaluable piece on that front. Golden State’s issues go far beyond the surface, and benching Green isn’t the answer to their problems.
