A five-player NBA trade idea sending Michael Porter Jr. to the Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga to the Brooklyn Nets has been created.
NBA writer Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea:
Golden State Warriors receive:Â Michael Porter Jr. and Haywood Highsmith
Brooklyn Nets receive:Â Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, Buddy Hield, 2028 first-round pick (top-five protected) and 2030 first-round pick swap (21-30 protected)
The Nets are listening to trade pitches for Porter Jr., while the Warriors will trade Kuminga after January 14, sources told DallasHoopsJournal.
Kuminga becomes trade-eligible after January 14. He doesn’t have a good relationship with Golden State head coach Steve Kerr and is looking forward to getting traded, sources said.
The Warriors are 16-15. They are in eighth place in the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Nets are 9-19. They are in 13th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Porter Jr. is making $38.3 million this season. He’s averaging 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 49.1% from the field, 40.1% from beyond the arc and 81.5% from the free-throw line.
As for Kuminga, he’s making $22.5 million this season. He’s averaging 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 43.1% overall, 32.0% from 3 and 74.1% from the foul line.
Kuminga signed a two-year, $48.5 million deal with the Warriors to end his restricted free agency last offseason. The second year of the deal, which is a team option, is designed for Golden State — or another team if and when Kuminga is traded — to rip up and construct a new contract next offseason.
