De’Aaron Fox and the San Antonio Spurs pulled off a massive win on Christmas Day as they took down the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, 117-102. The Spurs entered the game as underdogs, but they proved they were no pushovers, defeating the mighty Thunder on the road at Paycom Center. This marked San Antonio’s third win over the champs in the span of 13 days.

Fox led the way for the Spurs with a game-high 29 points on 12-of-19 shooting, to go along with four rebounds, three assists, a steal, one block and three triples in 33 minutes of action.

Fox, however, appears to have sustained an injury against the Thunder. The All-Star point guard has popped up on the injury report ahead of San Antonio’s next game, which comes in the form of a home matchup against the Utah Jazz on Saturday.

The Spurs released their injury report for the game, and Fox has been officially listed as questionable to play due to left adductor tightness. This appears to be a new injury for the 28-year-old, who has played in 22 consecutive games for the team since missing the first eight contests of the season due to a left hamstring issue.

Fox has been integral to San Antonio’s success this season, averaging 21.9 points on 48.2% shooting, 3.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.3 steals in 32.1 minutes per game. He is also knocking down 2.4 triples per contest on a 39.4% clip.

If Fox is unable to suit up against the Jazz, the Spurs will need to rely more on Victor Wembanyama, who has been coming off the bench since his return from a three-week spell on the sidelines due to a calf injury. San Antonio has been easing their cornerstone superstar back and has placed him under a minutes restriction since his return.

Wembanyama, however, logged 26 minutes against the Thunder, the most in the six games he’s played since his return from injury. It remains to be seen if he will be reinserted into the starting lineup against Utah, especially amid this new development on Fox.

San Antonio will be looking to improve on its 23-7 record on Saturday. They will host the 10-19 Jazz, with tip-off from Frost Bank Center scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
