As trade chatter heats up around the association, the Golden State Warriors appear to be a team that keeps getting mentioned in different trade rumors. NBA insider Chris Haynes of NBA on Prime recently reported that the Warriors are targeting athletic centers in potential trades.

On Friday, Haynes expanded on his recent report, adding another All-Star caliber name to the list of potential trade targets for the Warriors. According to Haynes, the Warriors are contemplating making a case for Dallas Mavericks center Anthony Davis. Haynes added that the Mavericks aren’t “that fascinated” with what the Warriors could offer for Davis. The Warriors would either have to acquire more assets or involve a third team in a trade to secure a package for Davis, per Haynes.

Davis has played 16 games with the Mavericks this season, averaging 20.5 points on 52.1% shooting from the field with 10.9 boards and 1.6 blocks in 29.9 minutes per contest.

Davis was the centerpiece of last year’s legendary trade that landed Luka Doncic with the Los Angeles Lakers. Davis has only played in 27 games with the Mavericks since being traded from Los Angeles. Davis suffered a strained adductor injury that caused him to miss 18 games with the Mavericks last season. Davis has missed 14 games this season due to a calf strain and could miss more time with a groin injury he suffered against the Warriors on Christmas Day. Davis was ruled out at halftime on Christmas Day at Chase Center after appearing to suffer an injury in the second quarter.

The Warriors would have to get creative financially if they pursue Davis. The 32-year-old big man is due $54 million this season and $58 million next season with a $62 million player option for the 2027-28 season.

Davis would instantly bolster Golden State’s frontcourt and give the Warriors another star-caliber player alongside Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler. Davis is a 10-time NBA All-Star, five-time All-NBA team member and a five-time member of the NBA’s All-Defensive team.

The NBA Trade deadline is set for Feb. 5, 2026, at 3 p.m. ET.
