The Indiana Fever star is undoubtedly the most popular female basketball player in the world.

If anything, the WNBA star could be considered the most popular female athlete in the world, regardless of sport.

Her astounding net worth in 2025 despite being injured for most of the season is testament to that.

However, it is almost certain that her injury-plagued 2025 WNBA campaign is a key part of why she was snubbed.

The 23-year-old only played in 13 of the Fever’s WNBA games this season and missed the entire postseason.

In her absence, other stars of the WNBA have grown in popularity and stature within sport.

A prime example is the four-time and newly crowned 2025 WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson.

Wilson just won her third league championship with the Las Vegas Aces and was named Finals MVP for the second time in her career.

Unsurprisingly, Wilson was named at the top of the list by USA Today’s Cydney Henderson.

Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers came in at third while Minnesota Lynx power forward Napheesa Collier was named at five.

Caitlin Clark was nowhere to be found and it certainly left some fans bothered.

One fan commented, “Sorry, do not know any of them? Wheres Caitlin Clark, you know, the only one with a world wide following?”

Another wrote, “Caitlin Clark disrespect is insane. Watch how she win mvp next year.”

This Clark supporter said it best, however, “Big fan of CC here. But she spent most of the season on the IL.

“She didn’t deserve to be on the list. It wasn’t disrespect.”
