Hawks need to make a deal - but is it too late to trade Trae Young?

The Atlanta Hawks need to take a swing because the East is open.

They gotta take a swing on somebody; Anthony Davis, Giannis, whoever it is.

And frankly, Trae Young should be on the table.

Period.

Yeah.

He, he, he, he is indeed.

They have been- He definitely is indeed- They- … on the table at this point.

They- Tim McMan over at ESPN reported that- Oh.

… the Mavericks wanna work out a deal to send AD to the Hawks, but they don’t have interest in Trae Young.

That’s according to Tim McMan over at Hoop Collective.

I’d take a look at AD if I’m the Hawks, uh, get off… U- Upgrade from Porzingis.

I would try to figure out a destination for Trae Young.

I mean, they, they, they had opportunities, man.

In 2023, I report at the time, uh, they had to go ahead from ownership to explore Trae Young trades.

Um, uh, at 2024, there was the rumblings, uh, with the Spurs.

We’re in 2025, and this was the third year in a row at this point with Trae Young rumblings, except now it’s very, very real, uh, that something could happen with the team being in the position that it is.

To me, I think it’s just two years too late.

I think they should have traded him two years ago.

Uh, at this point, there’s not a lot of teams that need a guard, want a guard, would want a, a, a six-foot flat guard who doesn’t defend, who’s an inefficient scorer, who looks like he’s on the decline.

And I think that’s unfortunate considering it wasn’t that long ago, I thought Trae Young was playing some of the best basketball of his career.

Better effort on defense, more movement off the ball.

But at this point with this team, it’s just not working.

But the thing is, Dave, is, like, who would want Trae Young?
