Without players like Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, De’Anthony Melton and Jonathan Kuminga, the Golden State Warriors had no answer for the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night at Chase Center.
In the opening quarter, the Thunder jumped out to a double-figure lead and never really looked back. In the second quarter, the Warriors put together a 9-0 run to cut Oklahoma City’s lead down to only two points. However, the Thunder quickly answered with a run of their own, scoring 19 unanswered points. At halftime, the Thunder controlled the game with a 19-point lead.

In the second half, the Thunder continued to pour it on, stretching their lead to as many as 41 points on their way to a dominant 131-94 lead on Friday night.
Six different members of the Warriors scored in double figures against the Thunder. Yet, no player tallied over 13 points. Moses Moody, Will Richard and Al Horford all tallied 13 points on Friday.
Pat Spencer led the Warriors with 11 assists. However, finished the game with a team-high -41 in 31 minutes off the bench.
The Warriors won’t have to dwell on their loss to the Thunder for long. Saturday will mark the second leg of a home back-to-back with Lauri Markkanen and the Utah Jazz coming to town.
