The G League’s OKC Blue couldn’t keep up in a 106-71 loss to the Santa Cruz Warriors on Sunday. The home defeat dropped their record to 1-6 on the season.
The short-handed Blue made it a game for a half. They had a 14-13 lead after the first quarter. Neither team could get going. Same thing happened in the second frame as OKC scored just 19 points. It entered halftime in a 36-33 deficit. Pretty low-scoring contest.
The Warriors completely changed that out of the gate. That wasn’t the case with the Blue, though. They were outscored 41-15 in the third quarter. That was the game-sealer. OKC entered the final frame in an unreal 77-48 deficit.
The Blue continued to struggle through the final frame. They only had 23 points. After keeping it close in the first half, they suddenly trailed by as many as 39 points in the second half. Not good, to say the least.
The Blue shot 27% from the field and went 10-of-38 (26.3%) from 3. They shot 8-of-12 on free throws. They had 17 assists on 24 baskets. Four Blue players scored double-digit points.
Meanwhile, the Warriors shot 41% from the field and went 11-of-45 (24.4%) from 3. They shot 6-of-14 on free throws. They had 32 assists on 42 baskets. Five Warriors players scored double-digit points.
