From Md. to York’s streets, Open Arms Cafe wants all to get a hot meal

Dallastown boys’ basketball has endured a frustrating season to this point, but the Wildcats closed the first half of their schedule on a high note by picking up a 60-42 victory at Hempfield on Monday night.
The Wildcats improved to 3-8 with the win, dropping the Black Knights to 3-8 in the process. Dallastown trailed 22-19 at halftime but opened up a 35-30 lead through three quarters, then outscored Hempfield 25-12 over the final eight minutes.
Chase Meyer led all scorers with 24 points; he sank 10 of 14 free throws, including 9 of 11 in the second half and 6 of 6 in the fourth quarter. Wydean Roberts scored 10 of his 12 points after intermission, while Carson Meyer tallied eight points and Tripp Barton added seven. Jayzen Grant led Hempfield with 15.
Dallastown — which was coming off a heartbreaking 60-58 overtime loss at Dover on Saturday — will return to its home floor against Governor Mifflin on Wednesday, then visit winless Northeastern for a York-Adams Division I contest Friday.

West York 63, Gettysburg 29: At West York, Chase Cristofoletti scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Bulldogs (11-1) to the easy non-league home victory. Teammate Breckin Lasher tallied 13 points, while Jaedyn Kohler chipped in nine. Gettysburg fell to 3-7 with the loss.
Northern York 57, New Oxford 44: At Dillsburg, the Polar Bears opened up a 43-26 lead through three quarters and went on to capture the non-league home victory and hand the Colonials (9-1) their first loss of the season. Luke Lehman scored 20 points, including four three-point field goals, to lead Northern (6-4). Brody Holmes led New Oxford with 17 points and Brayden Billman added 11.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
New Oxford 41, Northern York 25: At New Oxford, the Colonials (7-2) lead 20-18 at halftime and 32-23 through three quarters before pulling away to secure the non-league home victory. The visiting Polar Bears fell to 9-1 with the loss. New Oxford’s Lyla Sponseller scored a game-high 12 points, while teammate Georgia Mummert scored 10 points and Delanie Stonesifer added eight.
South Western 36, Susquehannock 27: At Glen Rock, the Mustangs (8-2) held a 30-16 lead after three quarters and went on to capture the non-divisional road victory. Riley Klunk scored a game-high 18 points, including four 3-point field goals. Teammate Carly Louey chipped in 10 points. Elena Snyder led the Warriors (7-3) with eight.
Dallastown 59, Bermudian Springs 18: At Dallastown, Ava Jamison scored a game-high 19 points, including three triples, to lead the Wildcats (10-1) to the easy non-divisional home victory. Teammate Denyla Handy recorded 11 points and Riley Gentzler scored eight. The Dallastown defense held the Eagles (3-6) to just four points in the second half.
Big Spring 54, Dover 31: At Dover, the Eagles (2-7) trailed 41-26 going into the final quarter of play and were unable to recover, dropping the non-league home contest. Ava Cataldi and Brinley Snyder scored a team-high 11 points apiece, with Snyder connecting three times from behind the arc.
York Country Day 39, East Juniata 31: At York Country Day, the Greyhounds (4-2) held a 25-20 lead entering the fourth quarter and went on to capture the home victory. Sydnee Williams scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while teammate Syra Robinson also tallied 10 points.
Shalom Christian 50, Fairfield 7: At Shalom Christian, Maya Lehman scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Flames to the easy non-league home victory over the Green Knights (1-9).
BOWLING
Eastern York 5, Kennard-Dale 0: At East Lincoln Lanes, the Golden Knights (5-3) won all three games by the scores of 1,053-779, 943-894 and 972-817 (2,968-2,490 overall). Harley Sauerbaum rolled a day-best 665 series, while Tucker Sauerbaum was right behind with 654 and Braydin Nissley added 557. Jack Phillips led the Rams (2-5) with 519, while Evelyn Koenig scored 516.
Eastern York’s girls rolled 2,014 as a team, with Jadyn Lavetan tallying 504 and Charlotte Pritts scoring 461.
ICE HOCKEY
Dallastown 6, Penn Manor 5: At Lancaster Ice Rink, Preston Stremmel found the back of the net with 3:38 remaining in the third period to give the Wildcats (7-5) a 6-4 lead and they held on to capture the CPIHL road victory. Teammates Zachary Colarusso, Niko Walker, Carson Widener and Brandon Granger each scored a goal and added an assist apiece.
