Snoop Dogg has already taken over NBC’s The Voice, and he’s preparing to head to his second straight Olympic games as a NBC Sports commentator. But on Monday night, Snoop was all about the hoops.
How to Watch
Watch NBA on NBC on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
The legendary hip-hop icon was on hand at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on January 5 to join his first-ever NBA broadcasting gig, teaming up with Reggie Miller and Terry Gannon on the call as the Clippers hosted the Golden State Warriors. Of course, Snoop brought his own flair to every part of the game, but he got particularly wild when Warriors coach Steve Kerr had a heated exchange with officials.

Watch Snoop Dogg go off ahead of Steve Kerr’s ejection
It was a tough game for the Warriors on the road, as Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers pulled out to a lead and held on to it for much of the night. By the fourth quarter, the Warriors were fighting to make a comeback, and Kerr was getting increasingly frustrated with calls that didn’t go his team’s way. It all came to a head when the Clippers’ John Collins blocked a layup from the Warriors’ Gary Payton. Kerr wanted a goaltending call, and when he didn’t get one, all of his frustration led to a tirade as he rushed toward the officials.
While Payton and Warriors assistant coaches tried to hold Kerr back, Snoop had a ball calling the action, shouting “Get him, Steve!” and even reminding viewers of Kerr’s college playing days.
“The Arizona Wildcat came out!” Snoop joked.
After two technical fouls, Kerr was ejected. The Warriors lost to the Clippers 103-102.
It was a fun moment for Snoop and for viewers alike, and it quickly spread on social media as NBA on NBC’s social team posted a clip, but even as he was having a ball talking about a coach argument, it was clear just how much Snoop knows about basketball. While he’s a huge fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, Snoop’s knowledge runs through the whole league, and as a former ball player himself, there’s lots of ingrained knowledge and pure love of the game that came through in his commentary. Don’t be surprised if he’s invited back in the booth again, sometime.
In the meantime, you can look ahead to Snoop’s upcoming return as a contributor to NBC Sports’ Olympics coverage during the Milan Cortina games, opening February 6 live on NBC and Peacock.
