Ironically Florida was the team who knocked North Carolina out of the NCAA Tournament in 2024. The Gators won that game in convincing fashion, taking the Tar Heels down 17-8. The Gators eventually lost to Northwestern in the semifinals.
Florida and North Carolina also faced earlier this season. UNC beat Florida 14-9, a game where the Gators never held the lead.
The Tar Heels have had a fairly easy run through the tournament thus far, winning by nine goals in each of their first two games.
Florida got through the first round easily against Mercer, then needed overtime to take down Stanford and beat Duke 11-9. The No. 4 Gators only have two losses this season; One against No. 1 UNC and another against James Madison.
