40 minutes wasn’t enough to decide Nevada women’s basketball’s game against Wyoming on Wednesday.

The Wolf Pack dominated the five-minute overtime period and came away with a 70-60 win to secure back-to-back Mountain West victories for the first time this season.

Nevada outscored the Cowgirls 23-12 in the first quarter, but Wyoming rallied in the second quarter to pull within a possession at halftime, as Nevada’s lead was cut 30-27 at the break. Nevada led by as many as 7 in the third quarter but the Cowgirls took their first lead of the night, 57-56, with under four minutes to play in regulation. Nevada’s Skylar Durley knocked down one of two free throws late, while Wyoming’s Malene Pedersen hit two late free throws, tying the game at 59 all. Ahrray Young inbounded the ball with two seconds left on the clock, but Durley’s three-pointer was off the mark to force overtime.

Nevada outscored Wyoming 11-1 in the overtime period to secure its second straight Mountain West victory. Nevada shot 49% from the floor, including 36% from three, while Wyoming shot 39% from the floor, including 31% from three. Reigning Mountain West freshman of the week Skylar Durley led Nevada with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

The Wolf Pack improve to 6-9 overall (2-3 MW) and will now hit the road for a game at New Mexico on Saturday. Tip off is at Noon Pacific time.
