This year, misery is loving company.

While league play has just begun, the collective records of the four teams are simply dismal. Overall, the season is about half over.

Here Is a Breakdown:

Brown University is tied for last in the Ivy League — 0-2 and 6-9 overall. Only the top four teams in the conference play in the league conference for the automatic bid.

Bryant University is 1-2 in the America East Conference and 5-12 overall. All the teams are eligible for the conference tournament.

Providence College may be the biggest disappointment. The Friars were picked to finish fourth in the Big East preseason. Presently, the Friars are 10th in the 11-team conference. The Friars are 1-4 in the conference and 8-8 overall. Kim English’s record at Providence is now 41–42, and 17–28 in the Big East.

The University of Rhode Island is another near cellar dweller. Rams are 1-3 in the Atlantic-10 and 10-7 overall. They are tied with three teams for 9th. Only one team in the conference has a worse record.

Through Saturday, January 10, the four teams’ conference records are 3-11.

Their combined overall record is 29-36.

And to add insult to injury, their national ranks, respectively, on KenPom.com are:

#67 Providence College

#112 Rhode Island

#255 Brown

#338 Bryant

There are 365 teams in Division I basketball.
