After a pair of wins to open their homestand, the Golden State Warriors built a three-game win streak while playing at home at San Francisco’s Chase Center. Heading into their Sunday evening contest against the Atlanta Hawks, the Warriors have won six of their last seven home games. However, on Sunday, Golden State’s home cooking came to an end.
Holding a six-point lead at the halftime whistle, the new-look Hawks, coming off their trade of All-Star point guard Trae Young, blasted the Warriors in the second half, starting with extending their lead to 16 points in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Warriors were able to put a run together to cut into Atlanta’s lead, but it was too late as the Hawks ran away with a 124-111 win at Chase Center. Early in the fourth quarter, the Hawks extended their lead to as many as 25 points.
After an impressive three-game stretch that saw the Warriors turn the ball over a total 37 times in three games, the Warriors struggled with turnovers on Sunday., The Warriors turned the ball over 16 times against the Hawks, their highest mark in the last four games.
While Jalen Johnson and Nickeil Alexander-Walker combined for 47 points, Luke Kennard fueled the Hawks off the bench, scoring 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting with six made 3-pointers.

Steph Curry notched 31 points while Jimmy Butler tacked on 30 of his own points. Butler finished with 30 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field with seven boards and six assists in 34 minutes. Butler’s 30 points were his highest scoring performance since Dec. 18 against the Phoenix Suns.
De’Anthony Melton was the only other member of the Warriors to reach double-figures in scoring with 10 points off the bench.
The Warriors will get Monday off before welcoming the Portland Trail Blazers to San Francisco on Tuesday.
