Well, the good news is this won’t be the loss this city is most mad about today.
The Sixers blew a four-point lead with 19 seconds left in regulation, falling 116-115 to the Toronto Raptors in overtime Sunday night.
Tyrese Maxey shook off a bad first half for the second straight game, leading all scorers with 38 including a stepback three that should have been the dagger with 19 seconds remaining in regulation.
VJ Edgecombe had his quietest night in some time even with his tying three in OT, having 17 points on 6-of-19 shooting with four assists. Kelly Oubre Jr had his best game since returning from injury with 13 points and seven stocks but a crucial foul late.
Scottie Barnes led the Raptors with 31 including the game-winning free throw.
On the front end of a back-to-back Joel Embiid was out with left knee injury management and a groin strain, and Paul George was a very late scratch while Toronto was without Brandon Ingram, RJ Barrett and Jakob Poeltl.
Here are some thoughts at the buzzer.
