Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. has seen his name pop up in plenty of trade rumors as the NBA approaches the Feb. 6 deadline and teams have to make some huge decisions. Porter could be on his way to making the All-Star team for the first time in his career and now, another team has added their name to the growing list of interested suitors.

“Michael Porter Jr., Trey Murphy III, and Herb Jones are the Warriors’ top three trade targets at this time, sources said,” Brett Siegel reported for ClutchPoints on Monday. Siegel’s report follows a report from NBC Sports’ Dalton Johnson that the Nets could want two first-round picks for Porter, but Johnson offered more context on how interested the Golden State Warriors are in the sharpshooter.

“The Warriors have not made an offer for Michael Porter Jr. They’ve been hesitant on him, from what I’ve heard, and remain cautious with their future draft picks,” Johnson wrote on X. In addition, Siegel went on in his report to say that “early signals from the Warriors are that they do not want to trade more than one first-round pick for Porter” before giving a possible package that Golden State would be willing to give for the former Denver Nuggets forward.

“Porter appears to be at the top of the Warriors’ list right now if they can land him for Kuminga, Moody, Buddy Hield, and a first-round pick,” Siegel wrote. While Brooklyn could be angling to sell Porter at the height of his value, assuming that’s the point he’s at right now, HoopsHypes’ Michael Scotto reported earlier this season that the Nets weren’t too interested in forward Jonathan Kuminga. That was before head coach Steve Kerr effectively benched him.

Porter, 27, is in the midst of the best season of his career as he’s averaging 25.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 49.1% from the field and 40.4% from three-point land. As of this writing, there seems to be reports supporting the belief that the Nets could trade him or hold onto him, potentially depending on what kind of offers they get before the deadline. For now, the Warriors appear to be playing it safe.
