Brooklyn Nets color commentator Tim Capstraw said the quiet part out loud during Monday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.
Capstraw was on the call for YES Network during Monday’s matchup between the two teams at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. In the second quarter of the game, Suns guard Grayson Allen was called for a shooting foul, leading to some airtime for him on the television broadcast.
As a result, Capstraw proceeded to drop a ruthless line about Allen. “Grayson Allen, I can’t look at him and not think of Ted Cruz. I’m not Mr. Politics or anything. I don’t wanna get into that. But that guy, that’s a young Ted Cruz to me.”
Capstraw also then joked that Allen, 30, might not feel too good about the comparison to the United States Senator Cruz, 55. Here is the video.

In fairness, the Internet has been making Allen-Cruz lookalike jokes for many years now. Those jokes even date all the way back to Allen’s time in college at Duke University.
Cruz himself once even acknowledged the resemblance to Allen in a funny social media post back in 2017. Now on Monday, it was Capstraw’s turn to get in on the fun during the Suns-Nets game.
