Even before the Boston Celtics nearly beat the Detroit Pistons 104-103 on the road this past Monday (Jan. 19) evening, Detroit head coach JB Bickerstaff went out of his way to praise the player who would nearly nail a game-winner vs. his Pistons several hours later. Speaking to the media ahead of the back-and-forth brawl between the two top ball clubs in the NBA’s Eastern Conference, Bickerstaff opened up on his thoughts about Brown’s leap to playing like a bona fide Most Valuable Player candidate with Boston this season.
“He’s a (expletive) of a basketball player,” began the Pistons coach via CLNS Media. “Again, a guy you talk about having to do certain things and having to carry the load. His scoring the way that he has (scored), his usage rate, all eyes on him defensively.”
“And he’s still figuring out a way to impact winning,” added Bickerstaff. “And I think he’s playing some of the best basketball that I’ve seen him play.”
“But we always, as coaches, find impactful is how it impacts winning and that’s what he’s done,” continued the Detroit coach.
“Its like he shouldered that burden but hasn’t made it just about himself; he’s figured out a way to help this team continue to get better and win games.”
