Just a couple of weeks ago, Ja Morant’s name was constantly mentioned as the next star point guard to be moved before February’s trade deadline. The embattled Memphis Grizzlies star was reportedly done with the lone franchise he’s been with since 2019.

He’s been mostly on the news for the wrong reasons. Unsurprisingly, his trade value is widely perceived to be low. But despite Ja’s troublesome antics, one team has been linked with Morant with all the trade chatter – the Miami Heat. But does the Heat’s interest mean that they’ll go all in for a Ja Morant trade? Not so fast. It looks like they have other plans as well.

“Does Miami take a step back at the deadline to get more assets for Giannis this summer, or do they try and convert talent to get better now? The Ja Morant stuff has cooled a lot, but if that gets revisited, they will not include anything they need for a Giannis deal. They’re going to try and basically get him for Rozier’s expiring and filler,” according to a report from Hardwood Paroxysm.
