Toronto Raptors rookie Collin Murray-Boyles is reportedly considered day-to-day with a left thumb contusion suffered on Sunday, according to Michael Grange of Sportsnet.

Murray-Boyles sustained the injury in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers when Luka Dončić hit his wrist on a shot attempt in the third quarter. He was ruled out of returning, recording 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks in 24 minutes, 38 seconds.

The ninth overall pick was ruled out of the Raptors’ victories over Golden State and Sacramento on Tuesday and Wednesday. His status was upgraded to questionable for their next matchup on Friday on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Murray-Boyles is averaging 7.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and two assists while shooting 53.6% from the field in 37 appearances. He is ninth among all rookies in rebounding and is the only first-year player to haul in at least 15 rebounds in multiple games this season.

The 20-year-old had started his last nine games for the Raptors in place of Jakob Poeltl, averaging 10.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks. He has scored at least 10 points in five straight games, tied for the second-longest active streak by a rookie this season.

Murray-Boyles appears to be trending toward returning to the lineup, either Friday or Sunday in Oklahoma City, to wrap up a five-game road trip. With RJ Barrett, Poeltl and Ja’Kobe Walter also dealing with injuries, his return should be a welcome addition to the court.
