HARTFORD, Conn. — Solo Ball scored 24 points, including a key 3-pointer in overtime, and Alex Karaban had all of his 17 after halftime as No. 2 UConn beat Villanova 75-67 on Saturday.

Silas Demary Jr. and Tarris Reed Jr. each finished with 10 for UConn (19-1, 9-0 Big East), which won its 15th game in a row.

Matthew Hodge hit a 3-pointer with 1:06 left in the second half to give Villanova a two-point lead, but Reed tied it on a tip that bounced off the rim a couple of times.

Villanova’s Tyler Perkins opened overtime with a 3-pointer, but that was the Wildcats’ only field goal in the extra period. Perkins and Duke Brennan had 16 points apiece for Villanova (15-5, 6-3).

UConn coach Dan Hurley was called for a technical foul with 15:06 left in the second half after no foul was called on a shot in the paint by Karaban and then Villanova’s Acaden Lewis went to the line after being fouled. Devin Askew made both free throws on the technical, and Lewis hit both foul shots to put Villanova up 39-33.

Ball had five points in a 7-0 UConn run and his 3-pointer with 12:12 remaining gave the Huskies their first lead of the second half.

The Wildcats regained the lead on back-to-back 3-pointers by Hodge and Askew. Hodge hit a pair of 3-pointers as Villanova took an 8-0 lead. The Wildcats led 31-27 at halftime.

UConn freshman Braylon Mullins left the game early in the second half when it appeared that he was hit in his face when Lewis was dribbling up the court.

Drexel 83, Northeastern 78 >> Josh Reed led Drexel past Northeastern with 22 points off the bench in Philadelphia.

Reed shot 8 of 12 from the field and 6 of 9 from the line for the Dragons (10-11, 4-4 Coastal Athletic Association). Shane Blakeney scored 14 points to go with three blocks. Garfield Turner had 12 points.

Xavier Abreu led the Huskies (6-14, 2-7) in scoring, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Turner put up 10 points in the first half for Drexel, who led 33-28 at halftime. Reed’s 20-point second half helped Drexel close out the five-point victory.

Yale 77, Penn 60 >> Nick Townsend and Trevor Mullin each scored 17 points to help Yale win at the Palestra.

Townsend also contributed nine rebounds for the Bulldogs (15-3, 4-1 Ivy). Casey Simmons finished with 14 points.

AJ Levine tallied 17 points, seven assists and four steals for the Quakers (9-9, 2-3). TJ Power added 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Ethan Roberts also had 12 points and six rebounds.

Temple 70, UTSA 64 >> Derrian Ford scored 21 points as Temple won in Texas.

Ford also had eight rebounds for the Owls (13-7, 5-2 American Athletic Conference). Jordan Mason scored 18 points, and Aiden Tobiason finished with 15 points.

Baboucarr Njie led the way for the Roadrunners (4-16, 0-8) with 25 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in the 13th straight for the Roadrunners.

Ford scored nine points in the first half and Temple went into halftime trailing 33-31. Temple used an 8-0 run in the second half to build a 12-point lead at 48-36 with 12:37 left before finishing off the win.

Women’s Basketball

Simone Sawyer scored 18 points, and Penn’s defense held Yale to 15 points total in the middle two quarters to come away from New Haven with a 64-37 win.

Mataya Gayle paired 12 points with six assists, and Katie Collins was near a double-double with 10 points and nine boards for the Quakers (12-6, 2-3 Ivy League).

La Salle 83, St. Bonaventure 74 >> Aryss Macktoon scored 23 points as La Salle (11-9, 4-5 Atlantic 10) led by 25 points after three quarters, shooting 54.9 percent through the first three frames in Olean.

Ashleigh Connor scored 21 points, and Cardinal O’Hara All-Delco Joan Quinn added 16.

Saint Joseph’s 72, Duquesne 53 >> The Hawks led by four at halftime, then opened up a 27-13 margin in the third quarter to blow open the trip to Pittsburgh.

Gabby Casey led all with 26 points, including eight in a 12-4 start to the third, plus 10 rebounds and five assists. Jill Jekot scored 14 points off the bench and added four steals for the Hawks (13-6, 4-4 Atlantic 10).

St. John’s 71, Villanova 58 >> Ryanne Allen scored 12 points, Jasmine Bascoe added 11 and Brynn McCurry 10, but Villanova (15-5, 8-3 Big East) shot just 30.6 percent from the field to lose in New York.
