ZT details his best player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Sunday’s matchup between the Warriors and the Timberwolves.
After postponing Saturday’s matchup in Minnesota, the NBA has an extra game on Sunday’s slate, with tipoff between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET. Even after the delay, we should get an epic Western Conference clash, so let’s dive into the matchup and pick out a few strong player prop bets to build around on Sunday afternoon. You can utilize these picks as standalone plays or group them in a Same Game Parlay (SGP), as indicated at the bottom of the post.
In the bigger picture, the Timberwolves are 7.5-point home favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, with the point total at 235.5.
The focus of this matchup could have been a return to Minnesota for Jimmy Butler, but Butler blew out his knee and will miss the rest of the season. Both teams are still good enough to make the game compelling, though, and are very close to each other in the Western Conference standings. The Timberwolves are 27-18 and sit at the No. 7 spot, while the Warriors are 25-21 and currently the No. 8 seed in the West. The Warriors have lost two straight since losing Butler for the season and are 6-4 in their last 10. On the other side, the Timberwolves have lost four straight and are 5-5 in their last 10. The two teams will play again in a rematch on Monday before ending their season series in Golden State on Friday, March 13. The first meeting of the year was on Dec. 12, when the Timberwolves won 127-120 on the road.
After the delay on Saturday, the Warriors added Steph Curry to the injury report as questionable, while Jonathan Kuminga remains out.
Let’s dive into this juicy rematch between Western Conference playoff contenders and find a few strong player prop bets to back this Sunday afternoon.
Timberwolves vs. Warriors Best Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Naz Reid over 21.5 Points + Rebounds (-120)
Reid is probably high in the rankings of my most-bet player this season, and he continues to be a force off the Timberwolves’ bench, especially when they’re playing at home.
Reid is averaging 20.8 points plus rebounds in his 45 games this season and producing 22.0 points plus rebounds in his 22 home games. He has at least 22 points plus rebounds in six of his last seven games, with the one exception being a game he left early with a shoulder injury after just five minutes.
Reid has played the last two games for the Wolves, though, after that injury. He had 13 points and nine boards against the Jazz on Tuesday and 20 points and six rebounds to go over this prop again on Thursday against the Bulls.
Before Thursday’s game, Julius Randle made a brief appearance on the injury report as questionable with a foot issue before being upgraded to available. If the Wolves try to get him a bit of a break, though, there could be even more minutes for Reid against the Warriors, who he had 22 points plus rebounds against in December in their first meeting of the season.
With Reid’s strong recent form and the Warriors’ issues in the frontcourt, this should be a good spot for the Sixth Man to deliver over this many points and rebounds once again.
With Butler out for the season, the Warriors gave some playing time to Jonathan Kuminga, who is unhappy and looking for a trade. He had good numbers but is out for this contest, leaving more work up front for Draymond Green, Al Horford and Quinten Post. Post and Green haven’t been able to step up much in the last few games, but the ever-consistent veteran Big Al has re-emerged as a solid, reliable option in the frontcourt.
Horford didn’t play in the first game after Butler’s injury, but he played 26 minutes on Thursday in Dallas and had a solid eight rebounds in 26 minutes, his fourth-highest minutes total this season.
He has at least five rebounds in eight of his 10 games this month while playing just 18.8 minutes per game. With extra minutes coming his way Sunday against the Wolves’ big front line, he should be able to get to at least six boards in this matchup, and this prop is a great value at plus money for a very reachable total of rebounds.
Brandin Podziemski over 18.5 Points + Assists (-112)
Podziemski is one of the many Warriors who will have to step up while Butler is out. He is only averaging 27 minutes per game and averaging 12.2 points and 3.4 assists per contest (15.6 points plus assists), but he stepped into the starting lineup for the last two games and seems ready to contribute in an expanded role.
In his eight games without Butler, Pod Racer has produced 12.2 points and 4.5 assists per game. He should get more work without Butler, and he could get even more if Curry is also sidelined. In his nine games without Curry, he produced 13.2 points and 3.8 assists. With Kuminga also out, his usage could be even higher in this contest.
Since returning to the lineup, Podziemski came in under this prop line in his first start, playing just 22 minutes in a blowout loss to the Raptors, but he played 33 minutes against the Mavs on Thursday, contributing nine points and 10 assists to go over this prop line.
He has been over this prop line in four of his last five games, and his streaky outside shooting gives him a high ceiling in any matchup that could turn up-tempo and high-scoring.
Bonus Parlay Pick: Jaden McDaniels over 7.5 Rebounds + Assists (-124)
If you’re building an SGP (Same Game Parlay) for this Sunday showdown, adding in the over on McDaniels’ rebounds plus assists takes it to a spicy +1200, as you can see below. If you want to mix in picks from other games, you can also build a strong SGPx with these core plays.
McDaniels has gone over this prop line in five straight games and is averaging exactly 7.5 rebounds plus assists per game this season. He has been handing out more assists lately, though, and also continues to play big minutes and do good work on the glass. While his scoring can be a little volatile, his rebounds and assists numbers can be a solid source of a good fourth leg to round out this SGP.
