The Spurs’ Rising Stars streak continued Monday, with the NBA’s announcement that rookie Dylan Harper and sophomore Stephon Castle were selected for this year’s event at All-Star weekend.
Last year’s Rising Stars MVP, Castle is averaging 16.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and a team-best seven assists in his second pro season. Harper, the No. 2 pick in last June’s draft out of Rutgers, is averaging 10.2 points and 3.5 assists off the bench.

This year’s Rising Stars tournament will be held Feb. 13 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, part of the All-Star weekend festivities.
It marks the fourth year in a row the Spurs have placed at least one player in the Rising Stars challenge, and the third year in a row to have two players named to the pool.
A year ago, Castle’s Rising Stars MVP award was a precursor winning to the NBA Rookie of the Year award. Victor Wembanyama was initially named to last year’s squad, but withdrew after being selected as a Western Conference All-Star reserve.
