The Chicago Bulls have some talent on their roster and they are proving themselves on the court. With the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend rapidly approaching, there are going to be players who are invited to participate in some of the events taking place. With the skills contest, dunk contest, and 3-point contest needing players, there is one Bulls player who has been asked. However, he has decided not to be a member of the event the league asked if he wanted to be part of. Let’s take a closer look at who it is and why he made the decision to decline the invitation.
Matas Buzelis will not be participating in the dunk contest this season

When asked on Monday about being part of the NBA Dunk Contest for a second consecutive season, Bulls forward Matas Buzelis made it known he is not going to be a contestant this year.
“I’m trying to listen to my body. Hopefully, I get invited again another year because I would love to do it.”
This is some positive news, as Buzelis still seems interested in participating in the dunk contest later in his career, but this year is a bit more difficult. Due to a postponed game back on Jan. 8 against the Miami Heat being moved to after the All-Star break, the Bulls will have four games in a five-day span, including three straight games against the Heat. With Buzelis already competing in the Rising Stars Game, this is a chance for him to still participate in the NBA All-Star Weekend without doing multiple events.
Buzelis has been having a strong second season in the league as he is averaging 14.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 0.7 steals in 27.8 minutes per game. He is also shooting the basketball well with a 47.6/35.8/77.6 shooting split through 46 games. There are still a few games remaining ahead of the All-Star break, but this is a chance to still be a part of the weekend while not appearing in the dunk contest.
