Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Egor Demin has been playing like one of the better rookies during the 2025-26 NBA season and as a result, he was chosen to play in the Rising Stars Game. Brooklyn knows that they will have at least one player participating in some event during All-Star Weekend and the good news for Demin is that he’ll be playing for a franchise legend.
Prior to Tuesday’s matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks on Peacock, Carmelo Anthony, former Nets guard Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady each drafted seven players for the NBA’s Rising Stars Game. Anthony, Carter, and McGrady chose from a 21-player field consisting of 10 rookies and 11 sophomores that have been selected to represent their teams.
Demin will be sharing the floor with VJ Edgecombe of the 76ers, Derik Queen of the New Orleans Pelicans, Kyshawn George of the Washington Wizards, Matas Buzelis of the Chicago Bulls, and Cedric Coward and Jaylen Wells of the Memphis Grizzlies. For those that are curious, Demin was chosen with the 15th pick in the draft with some of the best rookies and sophomores being chosen towards the top, headlined by Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg.
Demin, the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, is averaging 10.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 39.9% from the field and 39.6% from three-point land in 39 games played this season. Demin being selected to play in the Rising Stars Game makes him the first Net to play in the event since center Jarrett Allen and forward Rodions Kurucs were selected during the 2018-19 campaign.
The Rising Stars Game will be played on Friday, Feb. 13 (9 ET, Peacock) at the LA Clippers’ Intuit Dome as part of of All-Star Weekend, which should likely involved Brooklyn forward Michael Porter Jr. as an All-Star reserve. With Demin’s three-point shooting prowess this season, it’s possible that he could take part in the three-point contest as well, but for now, he will be showcasing his talent as some of the best young players in the league today.
