The Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday evening and it is potentially a more significant game than it seems on paper.
When the Lakers travel to Cleveland, it is particularly significant for LeBron James considering that he is from Akron and has previously played for the Cavaliers twice during his professional career. LeBron, who previously won a title playing for his hometown franchise, could potentially find himself playing for them for a third tenure depending on how the rest of this season progresses.

Here is more from Dave McMenamin (via ESPN):
“Multiple team and league sources told ESPN the Cavaliers would gladly welcome James back this summer if he wanted to return to Cleveland for his 24th NBA season and third stint with the team.”
Those words is going to play a role in the dynamics when LeBron enters the building in front of the Cleveland fans on Wednesday.
Here is more from McMenamin:
“It’s going to be a circus, and it is just a regular-season game,” a Cavs source told ESPN. “But when he comes, it feels like a Finals game.”
LeBron could opt out of his $52.6 player option in his contract this summer and become a free agent and potentially sign a one-year deal with the Cavaliers, finishing his career in the exact place where it all began.
The question would then become: Would his son, Bronny James, also find his way to Cleveland to join his father or stay with the team that drafted him in Los Angeles?
