Best bets for Wednesday, Jan. 28
The SportsLine Projection Model, which simulates every game 10,000 times, has three “A” grade plays on Wednesday’s NBA slate. It likes the Over on 230.5 between the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics, which hits in 61.6% of simulations. It’s also backing the Over on 221.5 between the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors, which hits in 61.1% of simulations. The Rockets and Spurs meet in a matchup of Texas contenders and the model backs Houston on the money line there. The Rockets win in 73% of simulations.
Despite some struggles of late, the Colorado Avalanche remain the top team in the Western Conference and NHL with 79 points on the season. They’ll look to build on their 4-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs when they visit the Ottawa Senators Wednesday night. The Senators sit at the bottom of the Atlantic Division but did get a resounding 7-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights in their last game. The model doesn’t see that type of result happening here, as it has the Avalanche winning in 60% of simulations.
