As long as he’s been in the league, Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant has been one of its top scorers.
In his 18th NBA season, Durant has maintained his reputation with the Rockets this year as one of the league’s best at putting the ball in the basket. Over his last eight games, Durant is averaging 27.9 points per game on 48.7% shooting from the field, which is elite efficiency.
As he continues to defy Father Time, Durant’s recent hot streak for Houston makes him one of the league’s best fourth-scorers in 2026.
Top fourth-quarter scorer
Durant has shown no signs of slowing down since the calendar flipped to 2026 — instead, it’s been largely the opposite. Since January 1, the 37-year-old ranks second in the NBA in total fourth-quarter scoring with 102 points, one of just two players with over 100 points in that stretch. He ranks second only to LeBron James, who has scored 104 points and also continues to produce late into his career.

In Houston’s 14 games this month, Durant is averaging 7.3 points per fourth quarter on 61.5% true shooting. While he’s always a shooting threat, he’s been particularly lethal from the free-throw line, converting 94.4% of his free-throw attempts.
Durant also joined an elite company with his recent scoring streak. After his 33-point performance against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, he became the fifth player in NBA history to score 30+ points in 3 straight games after turning 37 years old. Before Durant, only James, former teammate Steph Curry, Karl Malone and Michael Jordan had done so.
While Durant’s recent fourth-quarter scoring is among the best in the NBA, it hasn’t translated into team success. The Rockets are just 8-6 since January 1 and will hope to do a better job of capitalizing on Durant’s late-game heroics moving forward.
