Washington Wizards rookie Tre Johnson said Tuesday that he is grateful to earn an invitation to the 2026 NBA Rising Stars Game at All-Star Weekend in Inglewood, California.

Johnson is averaging 13.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 39.8% from 3-point range with the Wizards. He ranks sixth in rookie scoring and has the most 3-pointers through the first 38 games of a career in franchise history (84).

The sixth overall pick has played a key role for coach Brian Keefe and the Wizards, starting each of the last 16 games. He has scored in double figures 14 times over that span, averaging 15.3 points, 3.1 assists and 2.4 rebounds on 42% shooting from beyond the arc.

“Excited, just for the experience to be out there, to be honest,” Johnson said Tuesday after the Wizards defeated the Portland Trail Blazers. “It is just a blessing, I would say.”

Johnson is one of 10 rookies selected for the annual showcase, joining the likes of Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper, VJ Edgecombe and Kon Knueppel. They are among 28 total players chosen, including 11 sophomores and seven players from the G League.

The Rising Stars Game features four seven-player teams competing in a three-game tournament on Feb. 13 at the Intuit Dome. The two semifinal games will be played to a target score of 40, and the championship game will be played to a target score of 25.

Johnson landed on the same squad as the likes of teammate Alexandre Sarr, Knueppel and Kel’el Ware, which was drafted by honorary coach and Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady. He approves of the group and is excited to take the court with them.

“I feel like that is a pretty good team, especially at the rim,” Johnson said. “I think Alex having somebody tall beside him (in Ware), he can stretch the floor a little bit. I know he is excited about that. It is going to be fun.”
