CLEVELAND — Akron native LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, enjoyed a taste of Northeast Ohio during their recent trip to Cleveland as the Los Angeles Lakers faced the Cavaliers.

Swensons Drive-In Restaurants shared photos on social media showing the Akron-based chain serving James and his son while they were in town. Swensons also served Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr., who was born and raised in Akron.

“Had the honor of feeding Akron’s finest last night,” Swensons Drive-In Restaurants posted on Facebook, using the hashtag #AkronProud.

LeBron James has previously spoken about his longtime love for Swensons. In a 2019 exclusive sit-down interview with 3News, James shared his go-to order.

“I get a double cheeseburger, and onion rings…and then I get a banana milkshake with real ice cream,” he said. “I have a nice little feast.”

James, 41, received a video tribute during a timeout in the first quarter of the Lakers’ game against the Cavaliers at Rocket Arena on Jan. 28. After the tribute played, James appeared emotional, wiping his eyes with a towel.

“It definitely got to me a little bit, for sure. I think it comes from being present. It wasn’t the highlights. It was just being present. I’m trying to live in the moment because I don’t know if it’s my last time here,” James said after the Los Angeles Lakers’ 129-99 loss to the Cavaliers.
