The Oklahoma City Thunder have the opportunity to sweep the New Orleans Pelicans in this season-series finale on Tuesday.
The Oklahoma City Thunder try to avoid a rare three-game losing streak when they host the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. The Pelicans may be on the opposite side of the spectrum of the Western Conference standings from the Thunder, but New Orleans has an opportunity to win three games in a row tonight. The Pelicans have won back-to-back games for the first time since the middle of December, when they went on a five-game winning streak. Since then, New Orleans has only won two games before this recent winning streak. The Pelicans are still trying to avoid getting swept by the Thunder, though, in this season-series finale. OKC is up 2-0 after beating New Orleans on the road in the middle of November, 126-109. Chet Homgren scored a game-high 26 points, and he put up nine rebounds to cruise to victory. The Thunder are expected to do the same tonight with a -13.5-point line in their corner.

Oklahoma City is trying to bounce back from a close 103-101 loss against the Toronto Raptors at home on Sunday. Immanuel Quickley led the charge for the road team, putting up 23 points and 11 rebounds to help Toronto to its fourth straight win. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a good game as usual for the Thunder, putting up a game-high 24 points. It was his 117th consecutive game scoring 20 or more points, which is the second-longest streak in the history of the NBA. It was just their fifth loss at home this season, and it came after a stunning loss to the Indiana Pacers, who have one of the worst records in the league. To paraphrase Lloyd Christmas, so you’re saying there is a chance for the Pelicans.
New Orleans is playing with a lot of momentum right now, after coming off a big upset win against another great team, beating the San Antonio Spurs 104-95 on Sunday. Saddiq Bey and Zion Williamson were a dynamic duo, with both putting up 24 points and 10 rebounds. The Pelicans almost didn’t win, though, after dominating much of the game, squandering a 20-point lead before pulling out of the nose-dive. The Pelicans will likely need even more on the road against the league’s best team tonight to have any shot at the upset.
