Terms & Conditions The Bulls’ winning streak is over
The Chicago Bulls (23-23; 24-22 ATS; 21-24-1 O/U) are coming off Monday’s 129-118 home defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers. After four straight victories over the Brooklyn Nets 124-102, the LA Clippers 138-110, the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-115, and the Boston Celtics 114-111, the Bulls’ defense fell apart.
The Bulls forced the Lakers into just eight turnovers, and Los Angeles shot 56.1% from the field (16-for-33 from deep). Luka Doncic dropped 46 points on the Bulls, who made 52.4% of their field goals (18-for-49 from deep). Coby White led the way for Chicago with 23 points and six assists, and Josh Giddey added 19 points and seven dishes off the bench.
Last Thursday, Giddey (18.8 PPG, 8.8 APG, 8.7 RPG) scored 21 points against Minnesota in his return from an 11-game absence caused by a hamstring injury. In Giddey’s absence, White (19.0 PPG, 4.7 APG) has led the charge, tallying 18.7 points and 4.8 assists per game. The Bulls cannot count on Zach Collins (9.7 PPG, 5.6 RPG), while Tre Jones (12.4 PPG, 5.8 APG) is questionable for Wednesday’s game against Indiana.
Chicago is ninth in the Eastern Conference, four games above the No. 11 seed and two and a half games behind the No. 6 seed. The Bulls score 115.8 points per 100 possessions (13th in the NBA) and surrender 117.8 points in return (tied for 24th). They are eighth in the league in both 3-point rate (.439) and 3-point percentage (36.9%).
The Pacers continue to struggle
The Indiana Pacers (11-36; 23-24 ATS; 18-29 O/U) just finished their five-game road trip with a 1-4 SU and ATS record. After stopping their three-game slide with a 117-114 victory at the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Pacers suffered a 132-116 defeat at the Atlanta Hawks this past Sunday.
Indiana stunned OKC as a 15.5-point underdog last Friday. The Pacers went 16-for-38 from downtown and posted 10 more offensive rebounds than the Thunder (14-4). Against the Hawks, the Pacers made just 10 of their 35 shots from beyond the arc while committing 17 turnovers. On the other side, Atlanta went 18-for-43 from downtown.
Andrew Nembhard (17.4 PPG, 7.4 APG) tortured OKC for 27 points and 11 assists. He had six points and 13 dishes against Atlanta, while Pascal Siakam (23.8 PPG, 7.0 RPG) posted a line of 26 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three blocks.
With Tyrese Haliburton and Obi Toppin both on the sidelines, the Pacers have struggled a lot this season. Indiana is 11.5 games behind the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers score just 108.8 points per 100 possessions (30th in the NBA) while yielding 117.0 points in return (22nd). They make 34.0% of their shots from deep (27th).
Bulls vs. Pacers Pick Spread Pick for Bulls vs. Pacers Indiana Pacers (4 units)
The Pacers have beaten the Bulls twice this season, mostly thanks to their defense. The last time they met, Indiana held Chicago to 44.1% shooting from the field (13-for-35 from deep) and forced the Bulls into 18 turnovers.
The Bulls rely on 3-pointers a lot, and the Pacers defend the 3-point line at a high level. Indiana’s defense is third in the NBA in 3-point percentage (34.3%), and the Pacers allow the fewest 3-pointers per 100 possessions (11.3).
Hereof, I’m backing the Pacers to extend their dominance over the Bulls. Indiana is 5-1 SU and ATS in its last six dates with Chicago.
Over/Under Pick for Bulls vs. Pacers
The under has hit in each of the past five encounters between Chicago and Indiana, and I would ride this betting trend, even though both teams play at a fast pace. Yet, Indiana’s offensive rating is the worst in the NBA, and the Pacers’ 3-point defense should be a huge factor in this matchup once more.
Hereof, the under is 8-3 in the Pacers’ last 11 games overall and 6-1 in their previous seven showings at home. Indiana has won three of its last four home games while holding its opponents below a 100-point mark in two of those three victories.
