College basketball has an elite class of talents potentially heading off to the NBA in 2026, but one rising freshman is taking the sport by storm at a mid-major program Murray State.

The Racers are traditionally a Missouri Valley Conference juggernaut. However, this season’s team has a star that reminds many fans of an NBA and college basketball legend.

Roman Domon stands at 6-feet nine-inches and his ball handling resembles some of the best to do it. But, basketball watchers cannot help but compare Domon to Boston Celtics great Larry Bird.

Meanwhile, the similarities are certainly there between the Murray State guard and Bird. The former NBA superstar went to mid-major program Indiana State before taking the NBA by storm.

This season, Domon is averaging over 14 points and nearly five rebounds per game. However, his most exciting attributes are certainly his ball handling and three-point shooting abilities.

Domon is shooting over 41 percent from behind the arc as the Racers aim to make another run during March Madness.

The freshman could certainly become a name that NBA fans are familiar with soon, but more time in college wouldn’t necessarily be the worst thing for the promising Frenchman.
