The Philadelphia 76ers will be seeking a third consecutive win when they host the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night.
Unfortunately for the Sixers, they received some bad news on the day of the game, as star forward Paul George has been suspended 25 games for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.
Joel Embiid will play vs. Pelicans on Saturday nightÂ
George’s suspension will begin with the matchup against the Pelicans on Saturday night and run through late March.
But, while George will be sidelined against New Orleans, Joel Embiid will be available, as the star center isn’t listed on the official injury report for the game.Â
On the season, Embiid has appeared in 27 games for Philadelphia and posted averages of 25.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per performance. His production will be even more important moving forward now with George unavailable for the foreseeable future.Â
The matchup between the Sixers and Pelicans is the first of the season between the two teams. They’ll also meet again in New Orleans in February.Â
