Alex Hunter details his best NBA player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Monday’s game between the Hornets and the Pelicans.
The Hornets are hosting the Pelicans on Monday at 3:00 PM EST. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Charlotte is favored by 6.5 points and this game carries a total of 230.5 points.
Let’s dive into three of my favorite player prop bets for Monday’s matchup between the Hornets and the Pelicans.
Best Hornets vs. Pelicans Player Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Brandon Miller O 4.5 Rebounds (-152)
In addition to lighting it up as a scorer, Miller has been aggressive as a rebounder during the Hornets’ current six-game win streak. The wing is averaging 6.0 rebounds per game during this run, which ranks second for Charlotte, trailing only center Moussa Diabate.
Miller is averaging 9.2 rebound chances per game during this win streak and he has grabbed at least six rebounds in four of these six contests. The Pelicans rank 11th in pace and are giving up the sixth-most rebounds per game this season, and Miller should be active on the glass in this compelling spot.
Derek Queen U 21.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-124)
This combo line is elevated for Queen and he should fall short of this number. With Yves Missi playing well behind him, Queen’s role has been shaky as of late. In his last six, Queen is only logging 24.3 minutes per game – which is only slightly more than Missi at 23.5 – and with the decreased workload, Queen is averaging a modest stat line of 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.
Queen has stayed under 21.5 PRA in four of these past six and he should struggle in this tough, road matchup vs. the ascending Hornets. In the new year, Charlotte ranks fifth in defensive rating and the club is giving up the 11th fewest points in the paint per game.
LaMelo Ball 2+ Points in the first three minutes (-110)
Ball has been very aggressive to begin games this season, averaging 2.2 PPG in the first three minutes of contests, which easily leads the Hornets. The guard’s 29.8% usage rate in the first three minutes is also a team-high. During this current six-game win streak for Charlotte, Ball has scored at least two points in the first three minutes of four of these victories.
Ball should flourish against this soft Pelicans’ defense that ranks 27th in rating this season, and backing him to hit a field goal in the first three minutes of this tilt has a ton of merit.
