Warriors Trade Rumors: Updated Outlook on Potential Bucks Trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo
Sitting at 27-24 on the year, the Warriors desperately need to shake things up. That’s become increasingly obvious following SF Jimmy Butler’s season-ending ACL tear. With Antetokounmpo available, Golden State has frequently been tied to the nine-time All-Star.
In a February 4 episode of ESPN’s “First Take” program, Brian Windhorst alluded to Golden State having already offered its best package for Antetokounmpo.
“I’m watching the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves out there in the marketplace trying to improve the offer that they can make to Milwaukee [for Giannis]. … The Warriors have put everything they can on the table.”

Many believe the Dubs owe it to future Hall of Fame PG Stephen Curry to continue trying to field a premium product. The Butler acquisition of 2025 served as an example of that. Even at 37 years old, Curry is averaging 27.2 points per game on 46.8% shooting from the field and 39.1% from 3-point range. He remains elite, thus making it paramount to improve the team around him.
PrizePicks’ Riley Thomas recently put together a mock trade of Antetokounmpo to the Warriors. The scenario includes SGs Brandin Podziemski and Buddy Hield, as well as F Jonathan Kuminga and a multitude of first-round picks, heading to Milwaukee.
At 19-29, the Bucks don’t have much reason to hold onto Antetokounmpo unless they want to revisit trading him during the offseason. In 30 games played this year, the two-time MVP averages 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.6 assists on a career-best 64.5% shooting. Does Golden State have enough to land a top-three player in the sport?

Draymond Green Comments on Possible Change of Scenery at NBA Trade Deadline
Of course, given the limitations of the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, successfully putting together a high-profile trade like this is easier said than done. Certain concessions must be made, both financially and elsewhere, regarding assets.
Per a Tuesday report from NBA correspondent Marc Stein, it’s been “confirmed” that the Warriors have made Green a featured piece in a potential offer to the Bucks. Green, a four-time All-Star and nine-time All-Defense team member, has played all 14 of his NBA seasons with the Warriors. With that in mind, his reported inclusion raised plenty of eyebrows.
This week, Green weighed in on maybe being moved for Antetokounmpo, saying, “If that’s what’s best for this organization, that’s what’s best for the organization.” He expanded on that sentiment in an expletive-filled, albeit grateful, rant about his time in Golden State.
Draymond Green on possibility that was his last game with the Warriors: “If it ends, what a f****** run it has been.”

In 42 games this season, Green is averaging 8.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists. His 26.6 minutes per night is his lowest since 2013, and his 41.3% field goal clip is the lowest it’s been since 2019.
A separate mock trade from Thomas included the same package of first-round picks, in addition to Kuminga and Podziemski. Green was also thrown in instead of Hield, however, as salary filler to make up a significant difference in money going out versus coming in.
