Davis, currently out while he recovers from a hand injury, was traded to the Mavericks in the Luka Doncic trade one year and three days before this latest deal, which sends him to a Wizards team fighting to come out of a long rebuilding phase.

Davis is averaging 24 points per game and more than 10 rebounds per game across 14 NBA seasons, including 20.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game over 20 games this season.
Production has rarely been the question for Davis, but availability has. Davis has reached the 70-game mark only three times in 14 seasons, most recently in 2023-24, and he is currently out with a hand injury.

As Davis gets older, there could be concern about his ability to stay healthy and avoid nagging injuries that can cost him time throughout an 82-game season.

Davis was long projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 draft, and it became official when the then-New Orleans Hornets used their choice on him. He spent seven seasons in New Orleans, emerging as a perennial All-Star beginning in year two, but a trade request came down during the 2018-19 season that culminated in a deal to send him to the Lakers in the offseason.

Davis won a championship in his first season with the Lakers, averaging 27.7 points per game in the playoffs as L.A. finished atop the bubble during the COVID-19 pandemic, but his availability became an issue in the years that followed. Davis only averaged 44 games per season over the three years after winning the NBA Finals.
While he was able to stay on the court more in 2023-24 and early 2024-25, Davis’ Lakers career came to an abrupt end when he was traded to Dallas as part of the stunning deal that sent Doncic to L.A. Davis would finish his Mavericks career with only 29 games played.
How old is Anthony Davis?
Davis is 32 years old; he is set to turn 33 on March 11 and will be 35 when his current contract expires.
