The dark cloud hanging over the Warriors has disappeared.
Jonathan Kuminga finally has been traded, with the Warriors sending the former No. 7 overall draft pick to the Atlanta Hawks, along with shooting guard Buddy Hield, for big man Kristaps Porzingis, a source confirmed to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole.
The stunning move, which likely signals the Warriors are out on the Giannis Antetokounmpo pursuit, sent Dub Nation and NBA fans into a frenzy.
Initial thoughts: This is more of a return than I expected for Kuminga, given how his market cratered (far better than a Malik Monk trade). An elite two-way big who can play with Draymond (if he’s safe)

They better have a follow up move… no way Joe dumped his prized commodity for Porzingis

I mean… i’m not mad at all.

Oh well Aaron Turner ain’t in our fanbase anymore at least

How funny is it gonna be if Snyder doesn’t play him either.

I like the concept of Porzingis as a stretch big, but his health is a huge question mark. Fits stylistically better than JK for sure.
Love Buddy, but he was redundant with Richard/Moody/Seth,and they get off his money.
Reduced payroll and teams a little better (hopefully?).

I’m so confused by this GSW/ATL trade.
Porzingis is your “let’s give Steph one last chance” target?
And the Hawks with Jalen Johnson on the rise want to throw a Kuminga-sized wrench into his development???

The Warriors lottery picks of their two timelines plan resulted in
Moses Moody
Kristaps Porzingis (Jonathan Kuminga)
Some second-round picks and getting Gary Payton II back (James Wiseman)

Kuminga’s Warriors tenure ends after 278 games and four-and-a-half seasons. He averaged 12.5 points in 22.1 minutes per game, and leaves with an NBA championship ring earned during his rookie campaign.
But Kuminga leaves the Warriors as another young draft pick who never reached his potential.
Now, the Warriors turn to Porzingis, who is battling injuries this season. He has played in just 17 games this season, averaging 17.1 points. The last time he played was nearly a month ago, on Jan. 7.
The Warriors also are trading center Trayce Jackson-Davis to the Toronto Raptors, and they might not be done wheeling and dealing.
But for now, Dub Nation is left to process the Kuminga trade.
