LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić limped off the court late in the first half of Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers after reaching for his hamstring a few possessions earlier. He didn’t return to the game and was ruled out with what the Lakers called “left leg soreness.”
Dončić appeared to grab at the back of his leg following a turnover in the second quarter. He stayed in the game but was clearly wincing and limping until the Lakers could take him out. Rui Hachimura started the second half in Dončić’s place.
The injury occurred with the Lakers returning home for the first time in eight games. The team got Austin Reaves back on Tuesday in the final game of that trip, in Brooklyn.
Dončić leads the NBA in scoring at 33.4 points per game and is averaging 7.9 rebounds and 8.7 assists. Last week, he was named the Western Conference Player of the Month for January.
