As the NBA’s trade deadline passed on Thursday, Giannis Antetokounmpo remained with the Milwaukee Bucks, putting an end — at least for now — to weeks of speculation surrounding his future. Antetokounmpo dominated league headlines leading into the deadline, with reports linking him to the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves as rival executives monitored Milwaukee’s direction.
Despite the noise, the Bucks ultimately opted against moving their franchise cornerstone, signaling that Antetokounmpo will finish his 13th NBA season in Milwaukee. He has spent his entire career with the organization, highlighted by an NBA championship in 2021, two MVP awards and nine All-NBA selections.

This season, Antetokounmpo has continued to perform at an elite level, averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game, though injuries have disrupted his availability. Most recently, he was sidelined with a calf strain, and the team has yet to provide a clear timeline for his return.
Following the close of the trade deadline, Antetokounmpo shared a personal announcement away from the basketball court. On his official X account, he revealed that he has joined Kalshi as a shareholder.

“Everyone is online. The internet is full of opinions. I decided it was time to make some of my own. Today, I’m joining Kalshi as a shareholder. We all on Kalshi now,” Antetokounmpo wrote.
Kalshi is a U.S.-regulated prediction market platform that allows users to trade on the outcomes of real-world events, including sports, politics and economic developments. Founded in 2021, the company has grown rapidly as interest in event-based markets continues to expand.

The move represents the latest off-court venture for Antetokounmpo, who has built an extensive brand portfolio through endorsements with brands like Nike and business partnerships. While his immediate future remains with Milwaukee, questions about his long-term status persist. Antetokounmpo is still under contract with the Bucks, but with the franchise very likely to miss the playoffs this season, it remains to be seen whether he will remain in Milwaukee beyond this season.
