1. The basics

Position: Small forward

Age: 34

Hometown: Charleston, S.C.

College: Texas A&M

Height: 6-7

NBA experience: 14 seasons

2. Return to Texas

Middleton is joining a Texas team for the first time in his 14th season in the NBA, but he’s got experience playing in the Lone Star State.

Middleton played college hoops for Texas A&M, suiting up for three seasons in College Station from 2009-2012. He averaged 11.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists across 87 games for the Aggies and earned second team All-Big 12 honors his sophomore season.

3. Key piece of 2021 Bucks title team

While Middleton was drafted by the Detroit Pistons, he was traded to the Bucks after his rookie year and spent 11 and a half years in Milwaukee. During that time, he blossomed into an All-Star and the clear second option on a contending Bucks team led by star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Together, the duo led Milwaukee to a 46-26 record in the COVID-shortened season and capped it off with a championship, the Bucks’ first since 1971.

4. On the move

Just like Davis, Middleton didn’t have long to get settled in his previous city. The move that sent him to Dallas is the second time in just under a year that the veteran has been traded.

Last year, Middleton was moved from his longtime home in Milwaukee to Washington as part of a four-team deal that moved Kyle Kuzma from the Wizards to the Bucks.

5. Side hustle Down Under

Aside from his NBA career, Middleton has demonstrated an eye for business too. He joined the ownership group of the Brisbane Bullets, a men’s professional basketball team based in Brisbane, Australia.

The Bullets play in the National Basketball League, the same league where players like LaMelo Ball, R.J. Hampton and Josh Giddey played professionally before they were selected in the NBA draft.
