Sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference – and winners of nine of their last 11 games – the surging Cavs (31-21) begin a new era after finally breaking up the Core Four by swapping Darius Garland for Harden, an 11-time NBA All-Star.

Cleveland is coming off a dominating performance against Harden’s old team – with Garland sitting courtside – as the Cavs throttled the Los Angeles Clippers, 124-91.

The Cavs could welcome in their newest piece of the championship puzzle tonight. Harden is listed as questionable with a “trade pending” designation for tonight’s contest. He is expected to play at some point in the next two games.

Franchise centerpiece Donovan Mitchell racked up 29 points, nine assists, five rebounds and four steals in the win over the Clippers.

Veteran guard Dennis Schroder meshed well in his debut, tallying 11 points and three steals. Keon Ellis came off the bench for six points. Both will suit up against their former team in a night that will have a reunion theme.

The last meeting between the two teams was on Jan. 23, where Cleveland pulled away 123-118. The Cavs are searching for their first season series victory against the Kings since 2021-22.

Sitting at the bottom of the NBA, and having lost 11 straight games, the Kings (12-41) are in the midst of a woeful campaign as the front office continues to search for answers after firing head coach Mike Brown in 2024, despite leading the team to their first playoff berth in 16 years.

The Kings just missed a victory against the Clippers on Feb. 6, falling 114-111. Malik Monk led the way with 18 points in the loss.

Sacramento is averaging 109.8 points during their 11-game freefall.

Forward Domantas Sabonis, who was rumored to be a trade candidate at the deadline, stays put in Sacramento. He is averaging 15.8 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 54.3% from the field.

De’Andre Hunter, who was traded by the Cavs shortly before the trade deadline, will get a chance to show Cleveland what it quickly gave up on. The move was a total 180 from one year ago as the Cavs acquired Hunter near last year’s trade deadline, but the fit just wasn’t working for their championship aspirations in 2026, ultimately sending him out west.

Despite their dreadful season, nine of Sacramento’s 12 wins have come at the Golden 1 Center, notoriously known as one of the loudest arenas in the NBA.
