The No. 8 Nebraska men’s basketball team (21-2, 10-2) returns home and will play the No. 12 Purdue Boilermakers (19-4, 9-3) on Tuesday. The Huskers are ranked No. 8 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, after an 80-68 road win at Rutgers on Feb. 7.

Nebraska’s offense is averaging 80.0 points per game while shooting .473 from the field and .357 from the 3-point line. The Husker defense ranks No. 21 in the nation, surrendering an average of 66.1 points per game.

Iowa transfer Pryce Sandfort enters Sunday’s game averaging a team-best 17.1 points. He also averages 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Forward Rienk Mast ranks second on the Cornhuskers in scoring average (14.7) and rebounding average (6.0). 

Purdue enters Tuesday’s game with an offense that averages 83.0 points per game. The Boilermakers are led by senior Braden Smith, the reigning Big Ten Player of the Year, who is averaging 15.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game.

Tuesday’s game will be the 29th meeting between these two programs. Purdue holds a 21-7 series lead all-time with a 14-5 record since Nebraska joined the Big Ten. Both coaching staffs will wear American Heart Association pins to raise awareness of cardiovascular health.
