Player Notes
• Julius Randle ended tonight’s game with 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting, a season-best and game-high-tying 12 rebounds and a game-high 10 assists, marking his third triple-double of the season (17th career). Randle is one of only eight players league-wide to record at least three triple-doubles this season and has now notched the second-highest single-season triple-double total in Timberwolves history, tied with Kevin Garnett in 2006, Kevin Love in 2013 and Kyle Anderson in 2022.
• With Randle’s 8-of-14 (57.1%) shooting performance from the field tonight, he has shot 50.0% or better on 10+ attempts 32 times this season (312th career), second-most in the NBA with only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (36) ahead of him.
• Anthony Edwards finished the game with a team-high 30 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including four makes from deep, six rebounds, six assists and two steals, marking his 25th 30+ point performance this season (117th career) and his fourth 30+ point/5+ rebound/5+ assist game of the year (46th career). Additionally, tonight marks Edwards’ second 30+ point/5+ rebound/5+ assist/2+ steal game of the season (22nd career).
• Edwards now has three career 30+ point games against the Atlanta Hawks, the second-most in Timberwolves history (Karl-Anthony Towns: four). With his scoring performance tonight and on Dec. 31 in Atlanta (30 points), Edwards joins Towns as the only players in Wolves history score at least 30 points against the Hawks multiple times in a single season (Towns: Dec. 28, 2018 – 31 points, Feb. 27, 2019 – 37 points).
• In 29:50 minutes of action off the bench, Ayo Dosunmu led all reserves with 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting, marking his 11th 20+ point game of the season and his first such game with Minnesota (36th career).
Team Notes
• Minnesota has now won four straight home games against Atlanta, marking the second-longest home winning streak in the 71-game all-time series between the two teams. Minnesota’s longest run of home court victories over the Hawks lasted eight games, stretching from Jan. 27, 1998 to April 9, 2006.
• The Timberwolves are now .700 (7-3) in the second half of back-to-backs this season. They have had a winning record on the back leg of back-to-backs in every season since 2022-23 with an overall record of 32-19 (2022-23: 9-5, 2023-24: 8-4, 2024-25: 8-6), the fourth-best record in the NBA over that span.
• With all five starters scoring in double figures (Edwards: 30 points, Gobert: 18 points, Jaden McDaniels: 18 points, Randle: 18 points, Donte DiVincenzo: 10 points), the Wolves are now 11-3 (6-2 at home) when every starter scores 10+ points. Tonight marks the 42nd time the Wolves have used this starting lineup, the most of any starting five in the NBA this season, improving to 25-17 when doing so.
• Additionally, with Dosunmu’s 21 points, Minnesota has registered at least five players scoring 15+ points for the seventh time this season.
• Minnesota racked up 41 points in the first quarter and followed up with 40 points in the second quarter. This is the sixth time in franchise history that the Wolves have recorded consecutive 40+ point frames and the Wolves’ third such game this season. Out of nine total qualifying occurrences across the NBA this season, Minnesota is the only team to achieve this feat multiple times.
• The Timberwolves dished out 36 assists tonight, the second-highest team total this season and the third time the Wolves have reached 35+ assists this year.
• Minnesota shot 59.1% (55-of-93) from the field tonight, tied for their second-highest success rate this season. This marks the eighth time that the Wolves have shot 55.0% or better, tied for the second-most occurrences in the NBA this season.
