With Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler out, the Golden State Warriors have desperately needed someone to step up while their pair of stars are sidelined. Gui Santos has been helping answer the bell for the short-handed Warriors. On Monday night against the Memphis Grizzlies, Santos delivered again for the Warriors.
After trailing by as many as 17 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter, Santos finished a tough bucket at the rim with under 20 seconds remaining to give the Warriors a 114-113 lead over the Grizzlies to cap off another fiery comeback effort. Last week, the Warriors rallied back on the road to erase a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter for a comeback win over the Suns. The Warriors outscore the Grizzlies 29-15 in the fourth quarter.
Santos finished 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field with eight boards, two assists and a steal in 39 minutes. Santos has notched double-figure scoring numbers in seven straight games and is averaging 15.6 points per game over his last five games.
Santos was one of seven Warriors to record 10 or more points on Monday against the Grizzlies. Pat Spencer led the Warriors with 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor with seven assists, three reboundd and two steals in 32 minutes.
Al Horford added 16 points off the bench on 7-of-12 shooting from the field with a team-high nine boards along with six assists in 25 minutes off the bench.
