Warriors’ star Draymond Green has urged fans to pick a side when it comes to fighting in the NBA
Typically, when there’s some sort of fight in the NBA, you can expect Golden State Warriors‘ forward Draymond Green to be at the front of the action. In a surprise turn of events, though, the biggest fight of the NBA season currently belongs to the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets.
The two sides engaged in a full-team scuffle on Monday night, which led to four players racking up suspensions on Wednesday morning. The brawl has been met with mixed reviews, as some folks have praised it for reigniting memories of the old NBA, while others believe that it doesn’t belong in the game of basketball. For the latter crowd in particular, Green issued a strong message on the fight that will surely catch fans’ attention.
Draymond Green Reacts to Pistons-Hornets Brawl
“Who the f*ck are you… NBA’s soft, suspend these guys for fighting, pick a side” 🗣️ 🗣️ 🗣️ Draymond Green sounds off Jalen Duren and Moussa Diabate’s brawl 🥊 🥊
In the Pistons’ win over the Hornets on Monday, things got testy when Jalen Duren pushed his hand into Moussa Diabate’s face. Diabate then angrily confronted Duren and attempted to fight him, although punches weren’t even really thrown between the two. However, Miles Bridges became quite involved in the fracas, which led to Isaiah Stewart, who wasn’t on the court at the time, charging at him, with both guys throwing punches at each other.
If there’s anyone who deserves to weigh in on this subject, it’s Green, who has been involved in his fair share of fights throughout his career. Given his playstyle, Green is in favor of a more physical, aggressive style of basketball in the NBA. However, the league doesn’t like that, and it often results in players getting punished for their actions.
However, there’s a section of fans that likes the more old-school style of basketball, leading to a frustrating discourse over the state of the game. Green simply wants fans to pick a side and make up their mind, as he revealed how frustrating it is to see the NBA get bashed for its lack of physicality, only for folks to call for players’ heads when they actually do get physical with one another.
“I hate these people talking about, ‘Oh man, he should get X amount of games.’ Who the f*** are you?” Green said on “The Draymond Green Show.” “‘NBA is soft, these guys soft, the game’s too nice.’ But then when you get the fight, they like, ‘This dude should be out of the league.’ Pick a side and stay there.”
Warriors Hoping Draymond Green Doesn’t Get Involved in Any Fights Himself

Given how things are going for Golden State right now, the last thing it needs is Green to become radicalized and start getting into more fights himself. However, the point he makes is fair. The discourse over the state of the game in the NBA certainly has to be frustrating for the players, because no matter what they do, they are always wrong in the eyes of someone.
The league itself doesn’t want fighting to be a part of its game, so that’s how things are going to be until something changes. That doesn’t mean players can’t be physical with each other, but that leads to a whole different discussion about how games are officiated. So while fans may have enjoyed seeing the Pistons and Hornets go at each other, chances are we won’t see another brawl like that one for quite some time.
