BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Klay Thompson emerged from the red ANTA store alongside Kyrie Irving with a smile on his face, shortly before the ribbon-cutting ceremony to honor the company’s first U.S. flagship location.

The Mavericks veteran wore a tan jacket to celebrate the landmark moment for the major Chinese sportswear brand, but the intentional phrase “Klay for Life” stitched into the right side of the garment marked a special occasion for Thompson.

ANTA signed Thompson to a new long-term extension that will extend beyond his NBA career, the company announced Friday in a private room of the 3,000-square-foot store.

Thompson has sold more than 10 million signature shoes during his 12-year partnership with ANTA, which also has an endorsement deal with Irving. The Mavericks point guard recently celebrated the launch of his ANTA KAI 3, the third signature shoe since Irving became the company’s chief creative officer in 2023.

Thompson joins LeBron James and Kevin Durant (Nike) and Damian Lillard (Adidas) as active NBA players with lifetime shoe endorsement contracts. His former teammate Stephen Curry previously had a lifetime deal with Under Armour, but he parted ways with the longtime company in November after 13 years.

After starting his career with Nike, Thompson left the company to sign a contract with ANTA in 2014. He signed a 10-year deal worth $80 million in 2017.

The five-time All-Star played his first 13 seasons in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors, won four championships and has cemented himself as one of the greatest 3-point shooters of all-time.
